2025-2026 Director & Officer Application Form

Thank you for your interest in advancing the mission of the Association. 

What is the role of the Board of Directors?

  • Set the strategic direction and vision of the Association.
  • Determine policies, new and revised, that benefit members and advance the mission.
  • Provide oversight of the annual budget and programs, products, and services.

Time Commitment:

  • Attend six, two-hour BOD meetings per year (every other month meetings)
  • Encouraged to attend as many CCAR events as possible throughout the term
  • Term length is 3 years for a Director position and 4 years for an Officer position
  • Other duties and events, like the Strategic Planning session and the Mid-Year Review, in addition to Action by Emails.

The CCAR Nominating Committee is now accepting applications through July 2, 2025, for Director and Officer positions. There is one Officer position (Secretary) and two Director positions (each a 3-year term) to fill for the 2025-2026 year.

These criteria have been created to assist the Nominating Committee with the evaluation of applicants for nomination to the CCAR Board of Directors.

1.    Timely Submission of the Completed Application: All applicants must complete the online application within the prescribed timeframe. Late submissions will not be accepted.

2.    Active Real Estate License and CCAR REALTOR® Membership Required: Applicants must have an active Illinois real estate license and be a CCAR REALTOR® member.

3.    Personal Leadership Abilities, Passion, and Diligence: Applicants must have the personal leadership abilities to advance the mission of the Association, passion to mobilize members in pursuit of that mission, and diligence to carry out actions and accomplish goals and objectives.

4.    Knowledge and understanding of CCAR’s Mission, Programs, and Strategic Priorities: Applicants must demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the Association's mission, organizational structures, policies, programs, and strategic priorities. 

5.    Alignment with the Association's Mission Statement, Legislative Policies, and Strategic Priorities: Applicants must be aligned with the Association's mission statement, legislative policies, and strategic priorities.

6.    Advocacy and Political Involvement: Applicants must demonstrate experience and involvement with advocacy and political involvement, including but not limited to participation in Calls for Action, attendance at Illinois REALTORS® Lobby Day (Capitol Conference), and support for the REALTORS® PAC (RPAC).

7.    Civic, Community, and Industry Involvement: Applicants are strongly encouraged to demonstrate experience and involvement with other civic, community, and real estate industry organizations. 

8.    Understanding and Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion: Applicants must understand the business specialty, ethnic, gender, geographic, and local association diversity of the CCAR membership and must be committed to inclusion in the Association's organizational structures, policies, and programs.

9.    Ability to Act in the Members' Best Interests and Set Aside Business and Personal Conflicts: Applicants must act in the member’s best interests and set aside all business and personal conflicts that may reduce their ability to fulfill their fiduciary obligation to the Association. 

10.    Ability and Willingness to Devote the Necessary Time and Effort to Serving in the Position: Applicants must possess the ability and willingness to devote the necessary time and effort to serving in the position. Applicants must agree that should they fail to attend two consecutive meetings of the Board of Directors they shall be deemed to have resigned their position and will be notified of their resignation.

11.    Submission to Background Check: Applicants must agree to submit to a background check that must be deemed satisfactory by the Nominating Committee of CCAR.

Include the specific years of involvement. Please note. For the Officer position, Board of Directors experience is required (at least one full year as of October 1). For the Director position, 2 full years of committee/involvement group is required (as of October 1).

Please consider experience at the local, state, and national levels. Greater consideration is given to experience with real estate-related organizations.

Consider your participation in Calls for Action, RPAC investment, participation with CCAR during Illinois REALTORS® Lobby Day and Capitol Conference, and support through the REALTORS® PAC (RPAC).

Attendance at the BOD meetings is a necessary part of serving. Currently, BOD meetings are held every other month on Thursdays, beginning at 9:00 am. The 2025-2026 schedule has not yet been established; however, do you have regular commitments that we should be aware of that prevent you from attending?

Yes, I agree by completing this application, that I authorize a background check which could include legal, professional licensing, social media, and criminal background reports. Further, I attest that my active real estate license (in Illinois or any other state) is not currently under investigation or pending disciplinary action.  I further attest that I have no knowledge of any civil or criminal judgment against me individually or as a partner or officer of any partnership, corporation, or other entity which, if known, could adversely or negatively impact CCAR or my position as a member of its Board of Directors.  I further acknowledge failure to disclose any of the aforementioned may result in my disqualification or removal as a director or officer of CCAR.
